Focus on Shima Seiki
Shima Seiki will be showcasing the Total Fashion System called the SDS-ONE APEX3, and the most sustainable form of knitting called WHOLEGARMENT® on the MACH2XS flat-bed knitting machine.
The APEX3 is a design workstation that streamlines various stages within the fashion supply chain, from planning and design to production and even sales promotion. Its super-realistic simulation can be used for Virtual Sampling, ultimately eliminating the need and wastage for costly and time-consuming sampling shortening your overall development and production lead-time.
Knitted entirely without seams, WHOLEGARMENT® knitting technology allows for excellent seam-free fit, comfort and draping, and is applicable across all industries including fashion, sportswear, outdoor, medical, and industrial.
The company was founded by current Chairman, Dr. Masahiro Shima, when he invented the world’s first seamless glove knitting machine at a time when all clothing was made using traditional and labor-intensive cut and sew methods. Shima went on to find global success with its glove knitting and flat knitting machines in the 1980s, and by the 1990s was a recognized world leader in in its field. In 1995, the company launched its revolutionary labor saving WHOLEGARMENT knitting machines, which allowed sweaters to be knitted in one piece on the knitting machine without the need for cutting or seaming afterwards – another world first. Now Shima Seiki is the leading manufacturer of computerized flat knitting machines worldwide.
Shima Seiki created the hostess outfit for this edition.
