Tuesday 19th

12PM- BACTERIAL PRINTING

Learn to grow your own textile prints with Ali Schachtschneider. We will discuss the use of bacteria as a biologically grown design medium, and work with participants using bacteria to create printed textiles.

 

2PM- INTRO TO BIOMATERIALS

Discover the world of grown materials, learn to grow your own biomaterials with Ali Schachtschneider. We will explore the use of bacteria and yeasts to mycelium and cells as the design materials of the future. Participants will learn the processes involved in growing materials and will create material samples to take home.

Thursday 20th

12 PM- FASH TECH: INTERACTIVE GARMENTS

Explore the world of Fashion Technology and learn to integrate interactive components into garments with Birce Ozkan. We will explore the use of different sensors such as light, distance, motion, touch and sound as the materials to create interactive garments.
Participants will learn how to use those sensors and integrate them into garments to create reactive pieces using LED lights.

2 PM- ZERO WASTE DESIGN

Learn the basics of zero waste design with Daniel Silverstein. Maximize your profits and minimize your waste. By learning my 4 new fresh approaches to designing and pattern making, you can increase your output per yard and keep textiles from hitting landfills around the world. Learn the process behind designing to reduce waste and collaborate with other students to manipulate existing patterns for a first hand zero-waste experience.
