After a somewhat turbulent 2009, the last two days have demonstrated that a positive outlook has returned for planning Fall/Winter 2011- 2012 collections.

Fabric buyers, merchandisers, and designers worked extremely hard until the last minute of the latest Première Vision Preview New York show with a total of ninety-four mills exhibiting. With an eye to discover the new techniques and overall feeling of each fabric collection, they were delighted to find exactly what they were looking for. Infusing both creativity and innovation, the Première Vision Preview mills have again boasted an incredible performance, emphasizing the importance of the North American market and surprising the fashion professionals who represent it.

The entire spectrum of the Fashion industry shopped the Première Vision Preview floor at a steady pace during the two-day show. From designer houses such as 3.1 Philip Lim, Rachel Roy, Nanette Lepore, Elie Tahari, and Theory to prominent brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, and Donna Karan to retailers such as Ann Taylor, Talbots, Nine West, and Nordstrom – everyone wanted a piece of Première Vision Preview. In addition to the exclusive list of attendees and the enthusiasm they demonstrated, the number of visitors shows that the general ambiance of pre-recession time has returned: 3216 visitors attended the two-day event( +7%)

The next Première Vision Preview New York featuring Spring/Summer 2012 will take place on January 11-12, 2011 at the same location time as DIRECTION by Indigo, the International Exhibition of Creative Textile Design.

Première Vision Preview New York and Direction by Indigo present shows under one roof, a move cheered by North American fashion designers and buyers

New York City, January 19 -- January 12 and 13, Première Vision Preview New York gave designers and buyers a taste of what will be in store at Première Vision, the main event for fashion textiles and fabrics coming up in February (9-12) in the world's fashion capital. The New York show was a heartening success and a hopeful harbinger of fashion's emergence from the economic doldrums, not least because of two major "firsts":

Direction by Indigo, the trendsetter in innovative Textile Designs acquired by Première Vision in 2008, for the first time presented its own show over two floors of the Première Vision Preview exhibition space. This synergy allowed attendees to access both shows, featuring a dazzling range of fabrics, accessories and exciting new prints, all under the same roof at Metropolitan Pavilion – Altman Building in midtown Manhattan.

The verdict on the added value of the "one-stop shopping" event was overwhelmingly positive, with 4,118 Designers and Buyers visiting. They came to be inspired by the unique Fabric offer at Première Vision Preview New York and the latest creative print designs at Direction by Indigo; the vast majority of exhibitors overall expressed great satisfaction at their sales results vs.2009.
Direction by Indigo turnout was excellent: the first day activity was outstanding resulting in an overall attendance of 2457.

Première Vision also took the occasion of Première Vision Preview New York to officially kick off its newly minted partnership with The Council of Fashion Designers of America, Inc, (CFDA). The alliance, announced on January 5, is designed to assist CFDA members with fabrics sourcing at the bi-annual Première Vision shows.

CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg and Première Vision CEO Philippe Pasquet inaugurated the partnership on January 12 at a special Spring/Summer 2011 Trends Tasting presentation by Sabine Le Chatelier, Fashion Deputy Director at Première Vision.

Members of the CFDA were captivated by the Première Vision Preview event both for its style and its content as a springboard for fashion creativity. Some trends spotted for the Spring/Summer 2011 season included upbeat color taking center stage, as well as a more relaxed feel in less structured and flowy fabrics - dovetailing with consumers' yearnings for a more positive attitude, confidence and comfort. Other notable trends: aquatic-inspired textile designs and textures, and graphic prints hearkening back to the cheerful 50s. Fabric manufacturers hope to help designers entice wary consumers to open their wallets again for fashion using the lures of irresistible color and texture.

The main event, Première Vision Pluriel (www.premierevision-pluriel.com) will take place in the City of Light February 9-12, featuring the full complement of 1500 exhibitors. CFDA members will find the red carpet rolled out for them with complimentary admission and show directory, a special overview presentation and VIP lounges and concierge service.
